Gradespace IDE privacy policy

Gradespace IDE runs on your computer. Your projects, chats and settings stay there, and we do not collect usage data.

1. Introduction

This policy covers the Gradespace IDE desktop app and its gs command, made by Gradespace Ltd ("we" or "us"). Gradespace IDE is a workspace for the coding agents already on your computer, such as Claude Code, Codex, Cursor and OpenCode.

It does not cover the coding agents, AI providers, GitHub, or other services you connect to Gradespace IDE. They follow their own policies. Visits to thegradespace.com, including the download page, are covered by our main privacy policy and cookie policy.

Gradespace IDE started as a fork of T3 Code by T3 Tools Inc. It does not use T3's accounts, T3 Connect, or T3's analytics, and sends nothing to T3.

2. What stays on your computer

Gradespace IDE has no Gradespace account and no Gradespace servers behind it. It keeps the following in the .gradespace folder in your home folder, and we never receive it:

  • projects, threads, messages and agent output
  • files you attach, terminal output and logs
  • settings, keyboard shortcuts and connection details for your other computers
  • API keys and other credentials you enter, kept in protected storage where macOS provides it

3. Usage data

Gradespace IDE sends no usage data. The app we publish has no analytics service set up, so nothing is sent even if you turn on Share usage data in Settings.

If we ever add usage data, we will update this page first, keep it off unless you turn it on, and say exactly what is sent.

4. Connections the app makes

Gradespace IDE connects to these services. Each one sees your IP address and the request, as any website does.

  • GitHub, for updates. The app checks GitHub for new versions and downloads them from there. GitHub can see which version you are running.
  • GitHub, for the model list. The app downloads the current list of models from our public repository.
  • Open VSX, for themes. Only when you browse or install editor themes.
  • GitHub, for bug reports. Only when you choose to report a problem with gs triage. The report is a public issue, so check it before you send it.
  • Your other computers. Only if you set up remote access, over your own network or a service you choose, such as Tailscale.

5. Agents and AI providers

When you send a message, Gradespace IDE passes it to the agent you chose, running on your computer. The agent sends your prompts, files and code to its AI provider, such as Anthropic, OpenAI or Cursor, under that provider's terms and privacy policy. Gradespace does not see this traffic.

6. How we use information

We only receive information from you if you email us or open a GitHub issue. We use it to reply, fix problems and improve Gradespace IDE.

  • We do not use your code, prompts or agent output to train AI models.
  • We do not sell personal information or use it for advertising.

7. Your choices

  • Delete threads and projects in the app at any time.
  • To remove everything, delete Gradespace IDE from Applications and delete the .gradespace folder in your home folder.
  • Remote access is off until you set it up, and you can turn it off in Settings.
  • Under UK GDPR you can ask us to access, correct or delete anything we hold about you, such as emails you sent us. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.

8. Security

The app is signed by Gradespace and notarised by Apple, and updates are checked before they install. Agents can read and change files on your computer, so choose their permission modes with care, and keep your computer, accounts and network secure. Report security problems to security@thegradespace.com.

9. Children

Gradespace IDE is not meant for children under 13, and we do not knowingly receive information from them.

10. Changes to this policy

We will post any changes on this page and update the date at the top.
