What it does
Campaigns with honest totals
A target, the amount raised as you type it in, gifts, days left, milestones that tick themselves off, where the money goes, questions and dated updates. With no total yet the page says it’s to come, and percentages are rounded down.
Giving through your provider
A donate panel with one-off or monthly gifts and what each amount does sends people to your page on JustGiving, Enthuse, CAF Donate, PayPal Giving Fund, Stripe Payment Links or another provider. The website never sees card details.
Volunteer sign-up and records
Roles with the time they take, checks and the youngest age, a sign-up form that asks for essentials only, and private records with a status, notes, history and the date a DBS check was completed.
Shifts, several at once (Pro)
Shifts for each role with places, a waiting list and a reminder the day before. Volunteers pick several shifts in one go, or the same shift every week until a date, and get every place or none. “My shifts” cancels one or all.
Stories, services, events and reports
Impact stories that can’t be published until consent is recorded, services and places with opening times, events with sign-ups and a calendar feed, and annual report pages with income, spending and where each £1 went.
Three designs and real photos
Impact, Hope and Civic, each with seven colour palettes, and sample photos from Pexels with the photographers credited.
Who it’s for
Small charities and community groups
Food banks, warm spaces, befriending and advice services: campaigns, donations, volunteers and events on one website, with your charity number in every footer.
Charities that fundraise online
Campaign pages with a target, the total from your provider’s dashboard, milestones, updates and recent gifts, and donate buttons that go to the provider you already use.
Organisations with volunteers and several sites
Volunteer roles and sign-ups kept as private records, and on Pro shifts with places and a waiting list, with each place’s volunteers sent to its own coordinator.
What you’d otherwise put together
A site like this usually means choosing several products from different makers and getting them to work together. A kit is one thing, made to fit.
Putting it together yourself
- A premium theme
- A donations or fundraising plugin with campaign progress bars
- An events plugin with sign-ups
- A form plugin for volunteer sign-ups
- A volunteer rota or shift booking tool
- Setting it all up and keeping it working together after every update
One kit: Gradespace Charity
- Website, design and features designed and built together
- One licence, paid once
- One setup wizard that adds the pages, menu and sample content
- Updates for the plugin and theme tested together
Ready-made staff roles come with every tier; choosing exactly what each role can do needs Pro or Agency.
What’s included
One payment, a lifetime licence and every future update. Each tier includes everything in the one before.

How updates, your licence, your data and help work, now and later.
How updates work
Updates come straight from thegradespace.com, over a secure connection with time-limited download links for your licensed site. They install with one click from the WordPress Updates screen, like any other plugin. We test each release against the current version of WordPress before it goes out, and every release says which WordPress version it’s tested up to.
What “lifetime licence” means
You pay once. The licence lasts for life and every future update is included: there are no renewals or subscriptions. If our server can’t be reached, your site carries on as it is.
Your data stays on your website
Bookings, records, messages and content are kept in your own WordPress database, on your own hosting. There is no Gradespace cloud. Our server only sees your licence key and website address, when your site checks its licence and updates.
Help when you need it
Every kit comes with a step-by-step getting-started guide and a printable guide for your staff. For anything else, write to us and we’ll help.
Contact usTest copies are free
Local and staging copies of your site (localhost, .local, .test, staging.… and dev.… addresses) never use up your licence.
14-day money-back
If a kit isn’t right for you, ask within 14 days of buying for a full refund.
Questions
- Does the website take donations itself?
- No. People give on your donation provider’s own secure page (JustGiving, Enthuse, CAF Donate, PayPal Giving Fund, Stripe Payment Links or another provider you list), with the amount filled in where the provider allows it, or in its embedded form, shown after cookie consent. Every address must be a secure page on the provider’s own website. The website never sees or stores card or bank details, and Gift Aid is handled on the provider’s page.
- How do campaign totals stay up to date?
- You type in the amount raised and the number of gifts from your provider’s dashboard, and the page says when the total was last updated. Nothing is guessed: with no total typed in, the page says the total is to come, and percentages are rounded down so a campaign never looks funded before it is. Milestones tick themselves off as the total passes them.
- Can volunteers sign up for several shifts at once?
- Yes, on Pro. A volunteer ticks “Pick” on several shifts, on the shifts list or their own “my shifts” page, or takes the same shift every week until a date (a week without that shift is left out, and it says so). The places are taken together, so it’s all or nothing: if one shift is full, no place is taken, the full shift is named and its waiting list offered. One confirmation email has a calendar file for every shift, and they can cancel them all or one at a time.
- Where are volunteer records kept?
- In your own WordPress database, on your own hosting. Records are private and never published. A DBS check is noted as a date only, never a certificate number. Nothing is deleted automatically: people who left or went quiet come up for review, and WordPress’s personal data export and erase tools include volunteer records, shift places, event sign-ups and update requests. Our server only sees your licence key and website address.
- Is it a one-off payment?
- Yes. You pay once, the licence lasts for life and every future update is included. There are no renewals or subscriptions.
- What do I need to run it?
- A WordPress website (6.8 or later, PHP 8.0 or later) on any ordinary host. You install the free Gradespace Core plugin, the kit’s plugin and its theme, then the setup wizard walks you through the rest.
- What counts as a website?
- One licence covers one live website (Agency covers 5). Local and staging copies (localhost, .local, .test, staging.… and dev.… addresses) are free and never use up your licence.
- Can you install it for me?
- Yes. Done-for-you installation is from £99: we install Gradespace Core, the kit and its theme on your hosting, activate your licence, run the setup wizard with your details and hand it over with a short walkthrough. Complete setup and customisation, from £299, adds your content, bookings, forms and emails, small design tweaks, redirects from your old site, a staff training session and 30 days of help after launch. The price depends on your hosting and the size of the site, and is agreed before we start. Prices include VAT where it applies, and the kit licence is bought separately. Ask for a quote on our contact page.
- Can I change the design later?
- Yes. Choose a different design and colour palette in Site Settings → Design & colours at any time; your content stays as it is. You can preview a choice privately before visitors see it.
- How do updates work?
- Updates come from thegradespace.com and install with one click from the WordPress Updates screen. Each release is tested against the current version of WordPress first, and says which version it’s tested up to.
- Can I upgrade later?
- Yes. Move from Starter to Pro or Agency by paying the difference, from your licences page or from the kit’s Licence tab in WordPress. Your key stays the same.
- Refunds
- 14-day money-back: if the kit isn't right for you, ask within 14 days of buying for a full refund (the licence is then switched off).
