Setting up

The Events setup wizard

The Events steps of the setup wizard: your events and tickets, the door, DJ bookings, points (Pro) and the starter pages, menu and samples.

On this page

The wizard opens when you first activate the kit, and you can run it again any time from Events → Settings → Run setup again. Running it again never makes anything twice and never changes what you've edited. The general steps (welcome, your business, how people reach you) are in The setup wizard (general).

Your events and tickets

  • The kinds of event you put on: tick Club night, Day party, Community, Festival or Live show. They become the filters on your events. Add or rename them later under Events → Kinds of event.
  • Order numbers start with: two or three letters and a dash, for example BY- gives BY-1001, BY-1002…
  • Booking fee per ticket: added to each paid ticket and shown before paying. Leave it at 0 for no fee. The fee is yours; Gradespace takes nothing.
  • Tickets are kept while paying for: how many minutes a buyer's tickets are kept for them while they pay (10 is usual). Nobody else can buy them meanwhile.
  • Ask for a phone number: off unless you need it.

The door

  • Keep working on bad signal: the door phone keeps the night's ticket list and checks tickets against it when there's no signal, then sends the check-ins once it's back.
  • The door opens: how many hours before an event starts it appears on the door screen.

DJ bookings

Whether the "Book us" form takes requests, the kinds of event it offers and what the automatic reply says.

Points (Pro)

Whether points are on, what you call them (for example "Yard Points"), points per £1 spent, for coming and for bringing a friend.

Starter content

  • Starter pages and menu: Home, What's on, Gallery, Book us, My tickets, Earn and Become a rep (Pro), About, Contact and Credits, with the main menu. Your theme's own layouts are used for each page.
  • Sample events, crew and albums (off at first): three sample events with ticket types, three sample crew members and two albums, so the pages look full while you add your own. Remove them all later under Site Settings → Sample content.
